This Week In Photos

Coconut for hydration (and dessert). Grilled leeks. Broccoli cooked in olive oil, butter, garlic, salt/pepper, jalapenos. Bok choy grilled in a delicious marinade. Top pork sirloin with Savory Spice Shop's "Homestead Seasoning". Grilled Raddish. Homemade raw sauerkraut.

I made a little coin basket out of cordage.. Not a perfect shape, but still fun!

Thursday night sunset. I took another one right after this with a deer in the picture!

Week 3 - Salad Table still going a little slow, but it's almost time to start thinning out.

Last night I made my first batch of raw sauerkraut!
I loosely followed this recipe.
What's interesting is that 4lbs of cabbage, 3 carrots, and 3 celery sticks were packed into this 1.5L jar with room to spare! I ended up adding purple cabbage on top to fill out the jar a little more. I have a sparkling grape juice bottle on top to weight the cabbage down and keep it submerged in it's brine.

I also made my first batch of Kefir - an ancient fermented milk drink.

And today I harvested a few cherry tomatoes from my aquaponics.
You don't get much during the cold season so it's not really worth the effort to keep summer crops over winter.
